Menno Bosgra studied classical percussion at the Conservatory in Groningen (Netherlands) from 1989 to 1996. In 1994, he gained his teaching certificate at this institute and in 1996 a diploma for Performing Musician. After these studies, he continued his education at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam, where in June 2002 he gained his second-stage diploma. In the intervening years, he took private lessons in order to specialise in percussion with a view to playing with (symphony) orchestras.
Menno Bosgra is currently working as a replacement with various professional orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam, runs his own company Bosgra Music Engraving for the engraving of musical scores and composes works for brass bands and percussion ensembles for which he followed composition lessons under Jan van der Roost. Furthermore, he performs as a soloist and is an occasional member of the jury for percussion competitions and festivals.
