Geert Deforche
Geert Deforche (born 1975) started his musical training at the Stedelijke Academies voor Muziek en Woord [Municipal Academies of Music] in Roeselare and Izegem. Later he studied trumpet at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels with Manu Mellaerts and in 1999 he obtained his Master of Music degree. He went on to study wind orchestra direction with Piet Jeegers and obtained a teaching certificate.
He worked as a freelance musician with Il Novecento, Koninklijke Muntschouwburg Brussels, I Fiamminghi, Limburgs Symphony Orchestra, Muziektheater “lod”, Studio 100, Music Hall, Tabas & Co, and the Royal Ballet of Flanders.
He currently teaches brass and harmony at the music academies of Gooi, Dilbeek and Roeselare, and conducts the Jorko youth ensemble of Koekelare.
Geert has been an arranger with BERIATO since 2004.
