Jan Rypens (1976) began his music studies at the Brussels Music Conservatory as trombonist under Ivan Meylemans. In 1997, he continued his studies at the Conservatory in Antwerp where he was taught by Ben Haemhouts (trombone), Dirk de Caluwé and Jan Hadermann (brass band management), and where he graduated in 2001. He then continued his study of the trombone under Bart Vannieuwenhuyze at the Brussels Conservatory.

Jan worked for the music department of the Royal Ballet of Flanders for three seasons as conductor and trombonist.

In addition, he has worked with most Flemish orchestras as freelance trombonist and has conducted various music associations.

He has been working as an arranger since 2000 with the music publishers BERIATO MUSIC and has devoted himself to transcribing classical works.
