Ueli Kipfer
Ueli Kipfer was born on 30 December 1974 and grew up in Emmentaler (Switzerland).
He became fascinated with music at a very young age, and more specifically, by the euphonium.
After his military studies (as musician), he perfected his skills at the Bern Conservatory with James Gourlay. There, he obtained a post-secondary cum laude diploma.
At the Instituto Superiore Bandistico Trento in Italy, he followed master classes given by the well-known euphonium soloist Stephen Mead. He won various prizes and distinctions, of which the most important was the 1st prize for Euphonium at the European Brass Band Championships in Montreux in 2001.
Ueli Kipfer performs regularly as a soloist in Switzerland and with a variety of orchestras in other countries.
He is the conductor in several musical associations and also teaches the brass course at three Swiss music schools.
He wants to convey his enthusiasm for the euphonium, combined with his broad musical know-how, to both his students as well as the general public. |
