Veerle Cornelis

Veerle Cornelis (b.1968) studied at the Royal Music Conservatory in Brussels. She obtained the “first prize” diploma for organ led by Mr. Herman Verschraegen. She also showed great interest in notation subjects given by Mr. Rafaël D’Haene and obtained the “first prize” diploma for harmony, counterpoint and fugue. She now lives in Tongeren with her family, where she regularly performs as a soloist or as an accompanist for choirs and other soloists. She works as a teacher for organ and an accompanist at the Academies for Music and Word in Tongeren and Lanaken; she also teaches music theory at the Academy for Music and Word in Maaseik. This experience in part-time art education laid the foundation for the creation of the series titled 'HARMONISEREN op papier...'
